The Tenango
In the community of St. Paul the Great, at the foot of Cerro Brujo, where parents and grandparents made ceremonies a few years ago with prayers and songs asking for rain. Here is developed the "tenango" canvas blanket embroidered with bright colors that has its origins in the ancient Otomi embroidery that in this region apply to the usual clothing.
The figures that are usually embroidered in tenangos are: armadillos, roosters, flowers, animals and fantasy figures satirically representing scenes of everyday life, masterfully prepared with cotton thread over prewashed blanket. These embroideries are very colorful and are popularly known as "tenangos".
